Spring 2009
Reporter, Anchor & Photojournalist

Amber Nisson was born and raised in Tampa. She is a Senior at the University of South Florida majoring in Broadcast News. She is currently completing a news internship at Tampa's NPR affiliate WUSF-FM 89.7 where she is reporting and writing scripts for radio broadcast and articles for the web.

Ashley Cohen is a Senior at the University of South Florida majoring in Mass Communications; her emphasis is Broadcast News. She currently works as multimedia editor for USF's award winning student newspaper, The Oracle. She is also a CNN University correspondent in a program with CNN that allows student to contribute video reports to the international network's website.

Ashley Smith was a Senior at USF and graduated in Dec. 2008 with a degree in Broadcast News and a minor in Political Science. She has completed a news reporting internship at WFLA-TV/Ch. 8 in Tampa and while at USF worked as a multimedia journalist for USF's award winning student newspaper, The Oracle. Ashley has always had an interest in the media business and hopes to work her way to the top as a network anchor.

Atish Patel is a Senior at University of South Florida majoring in Mass Communications with an emphasis in Television Programming and Production and a minor in Biomedical Physics. During the Fall 2008 semester, he served as Executive Producer of a half-hour documentary on skin cancer for WUSF-TV/Ch. 16 which aired in January 2009. Atish is a member of the Florida Focus production crew working as director, technical director, audio + studio camera + tape operator, graphics designer, reporter and photojournalist.

Bradley Satterlee is originally from Upstate New York, but been a Floridian for the past 12 years. He was a Senior majoring in Mass Communications -Telecommunications- Programming and Production during the Fall 2008 semester.

Brad completed an internship during the Spring 2008 semester with Tampa Digital Studios. While there he did work for BobRossMovies.com and the Tampa Bay Lightning's "Lightning TV." He graduated in December and his goal now is to produce and direct for a post production company.

Brandon Gordon is a Senior majoring in Mass Communications with an emphasis in television production at the University of South Florida. Brandon's interest in television started in childhood. Brandon has completed a news internship at WFLA-TV/Ch. 8 in Tampa. He is currently interning at WMOR-TV/Ch. 32 in the promotions department. He also works as a master control operator at WUSF-TV. Brandon aspires to be a producer.

Brian Avelez was born and raised in the heart of South Tampa. He completed an internship in the summer of 2008 with ABC Action News in the web department writing and researching several stories. In addition to his Florida Focus duties, Brian was also a field producer for a panel discussion on Gardasil, which aired on WUSF-TV in January 2009.

Producer, Reporter, Photojournalist & Substitute Anchor

Chelsea Newberry is a Senior at the University of South Florida majoring in Broadcast News with a minor in Political Science.

Chelsea has worked as segment producer for “In Touch with Nature: Learning Gate at Nature's Classroom," a 30-minute documentary about public school children learning about nature. The program aired on WUSF-TV in August 2008. She also served as news anchor for "Behind Busch Gardens: A World of Conservation," a 30-minute magazine newscast about conservation efforts at the popular amusement park in Tampa. That program aired on WUSF-TV in January 2009.

Chris Futrell is a Senior at the University of South Florida majoring in Mass Communications with an emphasis in Broadcast News and a minor in Political Science. He currently works in the video lab at the School of Mass Communications at USF teaching fellow students how to use video equipment, editing software and helping with general technical problems.

Christina Cruz grew up in Miami and is a Senior at the University of South Florida majoring in Mass Communications with an emphasis in Broadcast News. She is currently a news intern at WTSP-TV/10Connects (a Gannett owned CBS affiliate) in St Petersburg, Fla.

Christina served as segment producer, reporter and photojournalist for "Overexposed: Skin Cancer Revealed," a 30-minute documentary aired on WUSF-TV in January 2009. She also worked as a video correspondent for USF's award winning student newspaper The Oracle on election night; here that's story:
